Help : Scheduled Database Backups


The Stanford Microarray Database is backed up on a regular basis. The backups don't affect database accessibility eccept as indicated in the table below. Batch experiments that are geing loaded when a backup begins are restarted when the backup and maintenance scripts are completed. It is not necessary to resubmit these experiments.

Thursday03:00 am PSTLoad external datasets in SMD. This process takes about 2 hours. Experiments submitted for loading into SMD will be entered into a queue, but will be processed and loaded into the database only after external dataset loading is finished. Also, no data can be modified during this time.
Sunday01:00 am PSTSMD logical backup, which takes about 1 to 2 hours. The database is available for all queries during this time. Experiments submitted for loading into SMD will be entered into a queue, but will be processed and loaded into the database only after the backup is finished. Also, no data can be modified during this time.
